48 Days To April 1
-Rhea Ripley’s the best.
-Been thinking about the whole Bad Bunny Super Bowl thing. They booked him for it in the first place because he’s really one of the only real music megastars of the 2020s. But, they couldn’t really do a “natural” presentation of the themes of him as an artist because his lyrics are obviously so vulgar, and this is obstensibly supposed to be a family friendly presentation. Going all in on the whole “Latin Pride” thing was really the only other angle that could have gone, but I can’t really say that everyone went for that.
-So, the mistake a lot of modern seculars might make when thinking about the Anglo-American civilization that we all inherit is that there was a long, centuries long plus process of Christianity being initially intense, and then gradually disappearing from life. But that isn’t really how it happened. In the medieval era, so many of the trappings of Christendom were actually quite distant from most of the population: Christianity was always present, but often in an ambient, distant way. Following the Protestant Reformation, following the printing press putting personal Bible reading into more and more people’s hands, following Sumaq Uraq silver causing the Price Revolution which would crowd England’s cities, we see the rise of the Puritans, holding an intense, personal, low-church faith. It’s their civilization that we inherit. They were the ones who founded the movement that built modern science, modern literacy, modern mass education, modern mass participatory democracy, the mass rise of wealth, health, and leisure that the world as a whole today now inherits. First, Christianity was ambient. Next, it became intense and personal, and that’s when the blessing occurred. The decline in faith we recognize in our century is only an extremely recent thing.
-Frieren Season Two is objectively the biggest global pop culture phenomenon of 2026 so far.

-Gosh, how do we shoot “Microsoft Teams” into the core of the sun?
-I just successfully made a Coupang order! I think. This is quite a frustration for me a few days ago. Now I’m in the habit of doing it!
-A student in class greeted me when I entered the room with “Hola.” Well, clearly she was just inspired by seeing Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show.
-Two girl students asked me for my autograph at the end of the class.
-Outside of the cafeteria, a bunch of students remembered me from earlier classes. I gave a bunch of boy students high fives on their way to the building.
-(cut) was about to scurry off to Lunch at noon, forgetting about (cut). Well, thankfully I was there to remind him otherwise.
-I guess I identify a bit less as a strident “libertarian” on economics lately, but it still goes without saying that Rand Paul and Thomas Massie are the clear best members of Congress now.
-At (cut), I overheard (cut) talking about UFC. I said to them, “Isn’t UFC ice-cold right now?” (Cut) got quite defensive. Lol
-They gave me the wonderful lunch at the cafeteria completely for free today for some reason. The female cafeteria worker kept giving me extra food items for my meal, and asked me about my background. Maybe she likes me.
-The cafeteria here looks like Hogwarts, dude.
-The disadvantage of going to the cafeteria for lunch is that it makes lunch timing pretty awkward. I finish lunch way before the hour, but there isn’t really enough time to relax at home afterwards, which means I don’t go home, which means I never lay down, which is a shame.
-I nearly tripped while leading students through a long walk outside to their next lesson. I didn’t, though!
-New iPhone wallpaper. Guess who it is.
-4:20 PM: The employer got all us employees a free gift for the Lunar New Year. I haven’t opened it yet, but it’s a big old black case as far as I can see it. Happy Seollal!
-5:05 PM: Quite angry again. It’s disheartening.
-(cut) gave me a pastry that was made in the recent Cooking class, which was very nice of him.
-I mean, I kind of suspect that an underlying reason why I’ve been getting so angry lately is due to disappointment in procrastinating on this PowerPoint that I was supposed to be working on…
-The (cut) mart was open!
-I tried playing Wild Rift when I got home, to cheer me up. I think it worked, a bit. We lost.
-I kind of overate again, this evening, too. Sad
-The Mormon missionaries finally reached out to me again, calling me. It was a real cheerful conversation. They didn’t ask me to do anything.
-Okay, an hour later I tried Wild Rift again and got the MVP. Yay!
